Claims - Made Policies - The Most Dangerous Insurance Policies in Our Industry
This course will discuss the major differences in an occurrence verses a claims-made policy including the coverage triggers, the retroactive date and the extended reporting period. Also covered will be the need for claims-made and common policies today that are written on a claims-made basis.

Gregory A. (Greg) Jones, CPCU, CIC, AFSB, AAI, CRIS
Greg Jones is the Senior Vice President for USI Insurance Services in Charleston, SC. He attended Clemson University and graduated in 1971 with a degree in Engineering. After working for Owens-Corning Fiberglass and IBM Corporation, Greg began his insurance career in 1981 with Heffron Ingle McDowell & Cooper which later became Palmer & Cay. Greg specializes in professional liability insurance and risk management, including physician’s practices, hospitals, & related medical professional liability; A/E professional, and law firm professional liability. Greg has appeared as an Expert Witness in construction defect and surety issues and authored and conducted seminars for the South Carolina Bar Association, CSI, Consulting Engineers of SC, South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers, South Carolina Association of CPA’s on a variety of insurance risk management, and construction related topics.
He provides consulting and risk management services to a number of municipalities, counties, school districts and special service districts in South Carolina. Greg assisted in the development of several physician-owned “captive” insurers, including EPIC (Emergency Physicians Insurance Company) & analysis of self-funded alternatives for professional liability as well as self-funded Workers Compensation for hospital and healthcare clients.
Greg holds several professional designations including the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB), Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) and the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS).
